Burnout

We’ve all experienced the feeling of crunch time, when deadlines are approaching we have to work extra hard, often putting in long hours to get the project over the line. However, if you work too hard for too long, then it can become overwhelming. We can become mentally and physically exhausted, experience headaches, insomnia and a range of other symptoms. These not only affect us, but reduce our productivity, so it is in everyone’s best interest to avoid.

I became a father in April 2020, a few weeks into the UK’s first COVID-19 lockdown. The challenges of being a new parent while holding down a job during the chaos and uncertainty led to a severe decline in my mental health and, ultimately, to burnout and an anxiety attack.
